Being fit, losing weight, living healthier – these are all goals that many of us have. The execution of these plans, however, often falls short and results are dismal. From personal experience, and watching those around me, I have found that weight loss and healthy living is really a way of life and requires a change in lifestyle. It does require effort, but according to a study done by the American Society for Clinical Nutrition, long term weight loss is possible! They found that over 20% of participants trying to lose weight were able to maintain significant weight loss for over a year. This was done with increased exercise and a diet changed geared to low-fat and low-carbohydrates.
Again, did it require effort? Yes. But there can be and were results! There are many more success stories similar to this (see my link here). The thing is finding your personal motivation and method that works best for you. No, method does not mean sitting at home and choosing diet instead of regular soda. Method still means something that stretches you, and pushes you, but in the end you enjoy and see success.
My attempt in this blog is provide another method for those that desire to be more fit – be it major weight loss or just staying active – and love the outdoors. My desire is to inform you the benefits of hiking. Not just the beautiful things you will see and thrills you can experience, but also let you know what is happening in your body. You can know the physiology and change taking place as you work out –at any intensity – with a special focus on different body parts and exercises every week. You will also find nutritional advice, and how your hiking nutrition will differ from your daily nutrition. And lastly, you will find adventures awaiting you with constant location updates, along with your own journey as you begin to climb the mountains yourself.
